The Philippines’ business sector is encouraged to strengthen ties and further explore opportunities in the United States which is “a very attractive business destination”.
This was according to US-Philippine Society (USPS) co-chair John Negroponte Tuesday as the organization introduced a new initiative to explore partnership opportunities in certain sectors for Philippine and US companies, as stated in a report by Malaya Business Insight.
“The US is a very attractive business destination that is something of interest for Filipino companies”, he said, emphasizing the western country’s openness to trade.
The Manila Times also reported that USPS co-chair and Filipino tycoon Manny V. Pangilinan said at Tuesday’s Philippines-US Trade and Investment Forum that these opportunities “reflect what the economy needs”, particularizing “capital equipments, which, as of the moment, the country is not capable of producing”.
He also emphasized the need to “promote better visibility” for Philippine companies, specifically for the government’s Build, Build, Build initiative, according to Malaya Business Insight.
According to The Manila Times, the USPS also said that ties with the US can aid “in human-resource capacity building and technical knowledge through student and professional exchanges”.
