When you hear the word “Sunnies”, you automatically think of one thing – and those are eyewear.
But eyewear would probably too vague of an answer. Because when we hear “Sunnies” we immediately think of the aesthetically pretty and Instagram-worthy eyewear shop.
And that is exactly what they are.
Four years after it was established, Sunnies has made quite an impact in the Filipino market for selling fashionable sunglasses with an affordable price.
“Sunnies is not alienating,” Sunnies Studios’s marketing director, Georgina Wilson said in an interview with CNN Philippines.
“Even though it is that cool, it’s not alienating, especially in very basic stuff like price point. For me, what’s really important is that Sunnies needs to be that affordable luxury — and it is with the prices — and it needs to be good, and it needs to be everywhere,” she added.
But exactly how did Sunnies Studios become such a business phenomenon in the world of eyewear?
Social Media Savvy
Sunnies has over 290,000 followers on Instagram. It has this modern retro theme in all of its posts that compliments the products well. This concept was made by Martine Cajucom, the company’s creative director.
“I want to avoid anything too cliché,” she said in the same interview. “Mid-century-inspired but not obviously retro. I don’t want something to feel dated or like a knockoff or cartoonish — I want it to still be modern.”
A reason why Sunnies Studios’s brand looks clean both in the physical and social media aspects is because of its consistency. This makes the company’s brand something to remember. But even with this consistency, the Sunnies ‘foursome’ never fails to play with other elements, like the color, moments, etc.
Georgina Wilson is one of the first faces of Sunnies Studios. But not everyone knows that she’s also part of the company’s backbone as the marketing director, which gives her a direct hand to its marketing and creative aspects. Georgina’s popularity has indeed helped gained the traction for their brand through her personal social media accounts.
Sunnies Studios has now branched out into more ventures like the Sunnies Specs and the Sunnies Café. This proved the brand’s huge influence in the country while staying within its branding and concept. Something we could all learn from the eyewear group.
